The program is taught by an experienced swim coach and swimmers are categorized based on skill proficiency.

Level 4-6 (Ratio 1:6 max.)

This class is designed to build upon the skills learned at the beginner level. The back crawl will be introduced and the front & back crawls will be perfected. Students will learn whip kick, front scull, dolphin movement as well as breaststroke arm motion with proper timing. Safety & survival skills will be expanded.

Level 7-8 (Ratio 1:7 max.)

Lifesaving Society Programs [top]

Bronze Medallion

The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion Award teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles applied in water rescue education – judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defense and release methods in preparation for rescues of conscious and unconscious victims. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Swimmers must be a minimum 13 years of age.

Bronze Cross

Upon completion of Bronze Medallion, the Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers that want the challenge of more advanced training, including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification

National Lifeguarding Service

National Lifeguard is a legal certificate for lifeguarding throughout the country, and the only lifeguard certificate recognized by the province of Ontario. National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification is available in four options: Pool, Waterpark, Waterfront and Surf. Candidates must hold Bronze Cross and be a minimum 16 years of age.
